Five systems, one auto-parts business: rebuilding Bildeler's digital backbone
Bildeler.no sells recycled and aftermarket car parts to Norwegian drivers who need a specific part for a specific car, fast. Behind that single storefront sits a business with very different operational needs — warehouse logistics, deposit returns, customer visits, and live marketing moments. Squares built and now maintains the full stack behind it: the public storefront, the content platform behind it, the internal ERP the operations team runs on, a self-service portal for returns and complaints, and a standalone campaign platform for real-world activations like Oslo Motor Show.

The challenge
Bildeler's business runs on more than a webshop. Customers need to find the right part for their exact vehicle and trust the buying experience. The operations team needs to plan customer visits, manage deposit returns, and restock warehouse locations without juggling spreadsheets. Customers who need to return or complain about a part need a process that doesn't require a phone call. And when Bildeler shows up at a physical event like Oslo Motor Show, they need a way to turn that moment into a real digital campaign — not a paper sign-up sheet. Each of these was a different problem for a different team, and none of them could be solved by bolting another feature onto the webshop.
Our approach
Rebuilt the storefront around how people actually search for parts: bildeler.no lets shoppers find parts by vehicle, not just by keyword, with license-plate/vehicle lookups, a product catalogue, DIY guides, and magazine-style content feeding SEO. Content is managed independently through a dedicated Sanity Studio, so the marketing team can publish without a developer in the loop.

Gave operations a purpose-built internal tool instead of forcing logistics and sales workflows into a generic system: a dedicated platform for customer-visit planning with route mapping, deposit-return (pant) handling, warehouse restocking, and reporting — the day-to-day tools the operations team actually needs, nothing they don't.

Turned returns into a self-service flow: customers log in, see order history and invoices, and start a return or complaint themselves — scanning the part's barcode, uploading photos, and signing off digitally — instead of routing everything through support, with refunds and complaint status tracked end to end.

Shipped a standalone platform for live campaigns: for Bildeler's presence at Oslo Motor Show, owners register their car via license-plate lookup, verify by SMS, and the public votes, with fraud safeguards — rate limiting, anomaly detection, disqualification rules — built in so the leaderboard stays trustworthy. It runs independently of the main store, so a marketing campaign never puts the storefront at risk.

“Squares gave us a store that converts better and takes far less manual work to run day to day. We notice the difference every single week.”
