A full-stack platform for workplace canteen operations
Frigg Kantine runs workplace canteen software that brings ordering, billing and day-to-day operations for multiple company canteens onto one platform. Squares is Frigg Kantine's long-term partner for custom SaaS development, building and maintaining everything from the admin dashboard to a multi-tenant billing platform and the app employees order from every day.
The challenge
A shared canteen serving several employers has to feel like one simple system to staff and employees, while still invoicing each company separately and correctly. That takes accurate billing behind the scenes, membership and inventory data that stays right across every site, and a partner who keeps shipping through Angular and Firebase development without breaking production.
Our approach
Built and maintain an Angular and Firebase admin dashboard for canteen staff: order, product, category and inventory management, pricing and campaigns, waste tracking for sustainability reporting, and MQTT-based control of the vending machine fleet across sites.
Designed a multi-tenant billing platform that turns shared canteen usage into accurate, per-employer invoices — customer records modelled on PowerOffice Go, automatic company lookup via Brønnøysundregistrene (the Norwegian business registry), and full audit logging on every admin change.
Built and support the employee-facing ordering app on the same Firebase infrastructure — Firestore, Cloud Functions and Auth — so staff order and pay in a few taps wherever they work.
Continued as Frigg Kantine's partner for custom SaaS development — shipping features like an audit log system and a rebuilt membership module, and owning architecture decisions such as the multi-site billing data model, on Node.js services running on AWS Lightsail.
